There's a reason for that Ferrari - they're British commentators working for their bosses - the BBC. That's British Broadcasting Coropration.. not the "WBC" - that's a fisticuffs association I believe.

It's just the same as listening to the Aussie commentators carrying on with any sports where an Aussie is going any good.

AJ would be a good choice - at least he has an idea what he's looking at. I still like the suggestion of Leaping Larry Perkins - he's a character as well as knowledgable.

Martin Brundle and Jonothan Legard genrally do go for thier local Driver Lewish Hamiltion and Jenson button, so I don`t think there trying to please the BBC all that much maybe a slight bit. I don`t think the BBC particulary care to be honest, there a brodcasting comparny, there number one thing any network strives for is money and ratings.

Yoda wrote:Whats James Allen doing these days?

I'm sure he could get a gig at One/Ten this time as an expert commentator.

Yoda, as much as I would like that, I don`t think It`s going to happen. James allan freequently writes blogs about F1, I freequently read them from time to time and find thme very intresting and amuseing. I wish James allan was still commentating, I love his enthusiasim, and thhe excitement James allan brang to the sport when commentating.

This may be a trifle confusing for you - but people from a particular country tend to support people from that country in sport.. Commentators are no different..

Eno I think many of the more serious followers of F1 are looking for a completly unbiased and objective commentary team, free of the nationalistic patriotism that we have been subjected to over the years both from Ten, ITV and now the BBC.

Totally argree with Yoda, but the reailty is biased commentary is always going to exsist, and theres nothing we can do. I sense Eno is looking for some heated Komotion, other than a serious civil debate.

Ten is broadcasting a 'Speed Sunday' tomorrow night.

It includes the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and also the 1992 Catalyunyan round of the MotoGP! Its great to see some archival motorsport footage coming onto One, and hopefully it continues

You're never gonna find one unless you get Emperor Penguins from the Antarctic commentating.. Even then I think we've had anough Aussies down there that they can spout "Australia's Mark Webber" before you can think it!

This has happened quite quietly, but One now has the WRC rights for the next 5 years

Hopefully for those with Foxtel it isnt exclusive and will be as it always used to be, with Foxtel having a seperate pay deal and TEN the FTA deal. I like my Foxtel same day coverage. Much better job thanTEN would ever do with it when they would show it a week or two later. Maybe with the advent of ONE they might give it a better service than they ever used to.

Just to confirm that the BBC end of the commentary remains unchanged for F1 2010.....

Anthony Davidson and David Croft, with I think Ian Phillips of F1I and Holly Samos continue the Five Live coverage that is use in practice, with the race commentators Brundle and Legard taking over for qualy and race.... Jake Humphrey alongside David Coulthard and Eddie Jordan, with Ted Kravitz and Lee Mackenze working as pit reporters.

Davidson had hoped to get back on the F1 grid for 2010, but was unable to find a drive. He has been linked to a racing return in the DTM, which we have discussed in the DTM thread in Track Day. - DTM does not have any clashes with grand prix dates.

Great to hear Ant and Croft will be back doing the radio again this year. I thoroughly enjoyed their efforts last season and will listen in again this year.

Shame that Leggard is being brought back, anyone would have been an upgrade over that guy.
ALONSO, he survives scandals 'coz he's the only Spaniard.
ALONSO, turns out the rules don't matter but does that even bother you?
ALONSO, didn't he once whinge F1's not a sport, ALONSO.

Good and bad news I suppose - it looks like Foxtel has lost the WRC coverage, but it looks like One is replicating their sort of coverage, based on Sweden this weekend.

Its possible due to the foxtel deal One could never show it straight away so I wouldn't be so quick to jump and say it's their fault

Just saw an ad for One's F1 coverage during Letterman on Ten.

It features Webber talking about the standard sort of stuff. It also looks says that Mercedes will be the title sponsor of the F1 coverage on One, at least for Bahrain. Nice to see sponsors getting behind F1 on One!

I dont think that is anything new is it? Didnt Toyota used to sponsor TEN F1 prior to the 1 days, or indeed I think they overall were sponsors of 10 Motorsport, ie RPM as well. :? :?:

None the less it is as you say good to see some support. :yeh:

The ads on during F1 are the most repetitive. I remember a few years back it was always Bosch, Michelin and Shannons. Every f**k ad break. Drove flaming mad.
